Decorative, hard wearing surfacing for external sports hall floor.
Background
With the luxury of a large multi-functional open space, this modern church design is open to one side.
When assessing the options for alternative replacement floor finishes, it was important to cater for resistance to both sunlight and rainwater. The Client was aware of the limitations of traditional epoxy surfacing materials and was keen to review modern technologies.
The Solution
Cemprotec E-Floor was chosen for the refurbishment works, a self smoothening, epoxy and cement modified polymer coating. The plan was treat the whole area as one, and then to reinstate all joints by saw-cutting and caulking at the end. The procedure is to apply Cemprotec EF Primer followed by a single layer of E-Floor which is spread to the correct thickness of 2mm with a skid leveller to form a waterproof and abrasion resistant floor surface which can be line-marked to recreate courts for the various sports regularly played there. The annual carnival is held in this area, and the new floor has proved very serviceable and easy to clean.
