Power Generation & Renewables
Solutions to Rebuild, Repair and Protect
The repair and protection of infrastructure in power generation plants, the nuclear industry and waste and recycling facilities is an area in which we have global experience of providing effective and durable solutions. Our products can significantly expand the durability of structures, enabling the original design life to be achieved. With water-based, low hazard formulations, Flexcrete products offer many environmental and sustainable benefits and can be safely applied when facilities are in normal operation.
One of our products, Cementitious Coating 851 is frequently specified for reinstating effective cover on precast and in-situ reinforced concrete. A 2mm coating of 851 is equivalent to 100mm of good quality concrete cover, as well as providing a complete barrier to water under 10 bar pressure.
Cemprotec E-Floor is another product which is often used in these sectors, during basement construction or to provide exceptional chemical or abrasion resistance, and Cemprotec E942, a water-based, epoxy and polymer modified cementitious coating, is ideal for providing a chemical resistant lining on bunds. Where required, it can be applied to new concrete bunds within just a few days of the concrete being cast, as opposed to waiting for a full 28 day cure.
Minimising Downtime
We offer a range of products for sub-structure works, for applications exposed to external weathering and for waterproofing bund areas. Our range includes fast setting repair mortars designed for use in areas which cannot be taken out of service for long periods, elastomeric coating membranes able to withstand thermal and structural movement and products that can be applied in damp environments with minimal levels of surface preparation.

- Chloride Ion Induced Corrosion
- Concrete Cure Period
The Problem
A myriad of reinforced concrete structures can be found in nuclear power stations with commercial pressure to see their design life extended. Many nuclear power plants are situated near the coast to make use of seawater for cooling. It is crucial that structures are protected from chloride ion induced corrosion and are watertight to contain any leaks.
The Solution
Cementitious Coating 851 can resist water under 10 bar hydrostatic pressure (100m head of water) on both the positive and negative side. Tests have proven that it offers excellent resistance to chloride ingress to provide complete watertight protection in the most extreme conditions.
The Problem
With tight deadlines to meet, designers are often keen to embrace fast track methods to ensure prompt completion of power generation and renewable facilities. One particular area with potential for reducing time is the 28 day concrete cure period before the application of coatings and linings.
The Solution
Cemprotec E942 and Cemprotec E-Floor can be applied directly to green concrete after only 24 hours’ curing. These epoxy and polymer modified cementitious coatings have excellent chemical resistance for use in bunds or can be overcoated with more chemically resistant coatings after typically 72 hours. Monodex Ultra, a high performance water based decorative anti-carbonation coating, can be applied to precast concrete such as wind tower bases just hours after demoulding.
