Concrete Repair and Waterproofing of Deck Area of Ambulance Station

Installation of waterproof friction wearing course and associated concrete repair works.

Background

After years of heavy duty wear and attack from de-icing salts deposited from the underside of ambulances during the winter, the elevated deck required a replacement waterproof friction wearing course and the approach ramps needed waterproofing prior to reasphalting.

Water leakage was occurring through the deck into the staff car park below, where there was also an immediate need for concrete repair and protection to prevent further spalling.

The Solution

Cemprotec E-Floor was applied on the ramps before reinstating the asphalt, and on the main deck, the standard 2mm thickness of E-Floor was finished with Cemprotec EF Grit Coarse & Cemprotec Sandseal 75 to provide a new friction wearing course which is capable of withstanding a 100 metre pressure head of water. In the car park beneath the main deck, concrete repair was completed using Steel Reinforcement Protector 841 & Monolite with Monolastex Smooth for final decoration. As required by the Construction Products Directive, products are CE Marked in compliance with EN1504 for use on public sector projects.
