Chemical Resistant Flooring Solution for McDonald's

Chemical and abrasion resistant resurfacing.

Background

The famous golden arches are recognised the world over with McDonald’s being the best known of the fast food chains.

Behind the public areas, all the waste materials are collected in designated bays, stored in special steel wheeled bins to await disposal. This results in aggressive deposits falling on concrete decking leading to surface erosion.

The Solution

In a programme covering ten McDonald’s outlets across Central Scotland, a Flexcrete solution was specified to remediate these affected areas. After thorough cleaning the substrate to remove greasy deposits, Cemprotec EF Primer was applied, followed by a 2mm layer of Cemprotec E-Floor. To give resistance to damage from the steel wheeled bins, aluminium oxide aggregate was cast into the surface in view of its hard wearing properties. Cemprotec Sandseal 75 was then used to lock the non-slip finish in place to give a long term solution. In deciding to adopt the system, the Client took particular account of the speed of curing of the E-Floor which can be walked on within as little as six hours after laying.
