Waterproofing Floors in the New Holiday Inn Express Hotel

Temporary waterproofing of floor areas allowing construction work to continue overhead.

Background

Having made the commitment to build a new Holiday Inn Express, it is imperative that construction is completed in the fastest possible time without compromising the high standards quality required by the Client.

In order to maximise efficiency on site at Banbury, the main contractor sought a means of applying temporary waterproofing to the whole of the second floor, thus accelerating the construction cycle by allowing the following fit-out trades early access to areas below.

The Solution

Key considerations in choosing a suitable system included ease of application to a damp, freshly place concrete substrate and rapid curing to form a durable finish which can be heavily trafficked. Cementitious Coating 851 was applied over Cemprotec EF Primer and finished with Cemprotec EF Grit Fine for a non-slip surface which was opened to foot traffic after just 24 hours. The system is suitable for application in confined spaces as there is no release of fumes. Cementitious Coating 851 is BBA certified and CE Marked to EN 1504-2 for protection against ingress in trafficked areas.
