A North West businessman joined Chancellor of the Exchequer and Tatton MP George Osborne at a VIP meeting specially held for ‘Export Champions’ at Piccolino’s in Knutsford, Cheshire.
Graham James OBE, Director of Flexcrete Technologies Limited which is the UK’s leading independent manufacturer of technical mortars and high performance coatings for the construction industry, was invited to meet George Osborne at the high profile lunch event. For the past three years, Flexcrete has been hailed as one of the North West’s leading exporters by being awarded the prestigious title of ‘Export Champion’ by UK Trade and Industry (UKTI).
At the event, George Osborne updated the attendees on what the Government is doing to promote British exports and how the UK will prosper from a strong partnership with China. He fielded a range of questions, including progress being made, in particular across the industrial sectors.
Graham James said:
“This was a wonderful opportunity to meet Mr Osborne and it was very useful to hear his views on how we, as exporters, can maximise business opportunities and interact with our counterparts in Europe and further afield. With regard to our domestic market, as much of our effort is directed towards major infrastructure projects, we also welcome the Chancellor’s direct engagement through the recently created national infrastructure commission. At Flexcrete, we manufacture technically advanced products which are used extensively on infrastructure projects, with Crossrail and the Mersey Gateway being current high profile examples.”
Following the event, George Osborne said:
“It is always very useful to spend time talking with these great exporting businesses that are so important to the British economy. The companies I met are positive about future trading prospects but there is always more that Government can do to support our firms and I am determined to help them wherever I can.”
Earlier this year, Graham James was present on a VIP trip to Singapore and Malaysia alongside Prime Minister David Cameron and some of the UK’s most high profile Ministers. As a direct consequence of participating on this UKTI sponsored trade mission Flexcrete Technologies has already secured business, adding two new markets to an impressive list of countries to which the company’s products are sold, with exports accounting for some 50% of its revenues.
Flexcrete’s range of products includes mortars, fairing coats, waterproof cementitious coatings and decorative protective coatings, including liquid roof coatings and hygiene coatings for use in hygiene sensitive environments such as healthcare and food manufacturing. Flexcrete Technologies produces all of the company’s water-based coating systems from its manufacturing complex in Leyland, Lancashire; the company’s products are used for refurbishment and new build projects and offer significant environmental and user friendly advantages over solvent-based products, in that they release no strong odour or hazardous solvents and cause absolutely no disruption during application.
