Flexcrete solution for McCain

As the world’s largest producer of French fries and oven-ready frozen food products, it is important that McCain Foods’ processing plants are in pristine condition. A high performance external wall coating was required for use at the company’s head office in Florenceville, Canada, as the previously applied coating had started to delaminate and peel due to the aggressive climatic conditions that Florenceville is subjected to. Located within the Appalachian Mountain Range, the climate is extremely aggressive with snowstorms and flooding a common occurrence.

Flexcrete’s water-based Monodex Smooth elastomeric, anti-carbonation coating was chosen for application to the McCains building to its exceptional ability to withstand freeze/thaw cycles without deterioration and its independent certification to EN 1504-2. Monodex Smooth totally outperforms conventional coatings and provides outstanding protection against carbonation and water ingress, nevertheless allows damp substrates to breathe without blistering – an important consideration in this project. Monodex Smooth has a 15 year lifespan and incorporates an active fungicide to prevent the growth of mould and lichens, ensuring it maintains an attractive appearance for many years.

The Contractor for this project was RCJ Concrete Restoration & Coatings Inc.
