Waterproofing Roofs of Clunyhill Service Reservoirs

Waterproofing of reservoir roofs.

Background

To provide a structure for its above-ground maintenance needs, Scottish Water formed the HAGAM scheme in order to manage the 25 service reservoirs servicing the north of Scotland.

As the 4th largest water service provider in the UK and the 12th biggest business in Scotland, special demands are placed upon suppliers to deliver quality economic solutions to meet their needs.

The Solution

The Burgh and County Service Reservoirs at Clunyhill were suffering similar modes of failure, needing urgent attention to ensure continuing integrity of the potable water supplies. To achieve this, the Consultants recommended a range of fully compatible and easy to use Flexcrete products which included Monomix (high build repair mortar), Monolevel 844SP (for surface levelling) and Cemprotec Elastic for the final treatment of roof surfaces to defend against any further substrate cracking which may occur at some future point. The elastomeric property of Cemprotec Elastic was not the sole factor to govern its selection, as the rapid curing nature proved particularly important as well.
