Concrete Waterproofing on Service Reservoir Roofs

Concrete waterproofing and repair of 4,000m² of  service reservoir roofs.

Background

As the fourth largest supplier of water and waste water services in the UK, Scottish Water is familiar with the challenges of maintaining various retaining structures.

In the quest to source an innovative range of products to arrest the deterioration of a large number of reservoir roofs, an approved system from Flexcrete was specified.

The Solution

Initially, concrete repairs were completed with Monomix, an easy to use, high build hand applied mortar, whilst preparation of the surrounding surfaces was achieved with Monolevel 844SP – both materials having DWI approval. Following this, for the external sealing of the roof surfaces, Cemprotec Elastic was chosen – a polymer rich cementitious coating with class-leading elastomeric properties and rapid curing characteristics. In conjunction with Cemprotec Scrim, Cemprotec Elastic can be used over crazed or jointed surfaces, and, in this instance, a green grit was broadcast into the surface to allow the structure to blend into the countryside, and provide a non-slip finish for foot traffic.
